Last week I was presenting to a group of Superintendents in New York who are part of a committee to support female educational leaders. At the end of the presentation, I asked them to reflect on our time together and one thing that they were going to take from it.
One Superintendent responded that she has a knowing and doing gap. She knows what to do but actually doing it consistently is where she falls off.š§š§
Isnāt that true for everything and all of us? I always use weight loss and fitness as an example because it is so simple. If we want to lose weight and/or be healthier we know we have to burn more calories than we expend in a day, eat well, and MOVE our bodies.šāāļøš§āāļø
Why then do I sometimes just sit on the couch with a book rather than getting on my cardio equipment?š¤š¤
You guessed it, the knowing and doing gap.
One thing that I excel at is helping leaders identify their knowing and doing gaps and helping them create accountability systems so they are more consistent.āļøāļø
So, respond to this blog post below as to what your knowing-doing gap is and Iāll give you some tips.šš
