You are doing WAY too much. I know what you're saying, "I have so much work and I just can't keep up with it all." Hear me out..
You're doing too much because you aren't using your resources, or using the other leaders in your organization. I know you don't believe me so let me share my experience.
When I started Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts I was "doing too much."
I was trying to do it all and somehow wasn't getting much of anything done. Sometimes even worse, I was getting it done with mediocrity. I was like a hamster on a wheel and every day I got up and did it again. My family suffered, my work productivity suffered, and I suffered.
So, I said, "girl, you are doing too much!" I realized that I had other people in the organization that had some excellent skills that I wasn't tapping into. I decided to start having conversations with these people and determine how they might be able to help. Do you know what happened?
I found out that there were many leaders within the organization who just hadn't yet been tapped. I created a pipeline of leaders who were engaging in work that aligned perfectly with their skill sets.
Spreading the work out to others enabled me to do less and be more effective at what I was doing instead of doing more and doing it all in a mediocre way.
Many hands make light work!
I'd love to hear one thing you can delegate to someone in your organization or ask me for advice on how you can do that. To create a pipeline of amazing leaders who are able to maintain a proper work/life balance.
In love, leadership, and friendship,
